inserts for plastics, composites & wood
The substrate materials, being soft, cannot themselves withstand multiple installation of fasteners, high tensile or torque loads without the danger of failure. The use of threaded inserts increases the effective area in contact with the substrate therefore maximising its capability to withstand these forces. Whilst being constructed of stronger material the insert will allow multiple installations of the mating screw without wear or premature failure. Designers should ensure that they are correctly specified to suit the particular characteristics of the substrate. Our Application engineers would be glad to help, so please call us in early.
