In order to overcome the premature failure of screws in soft materials previously experienced using sheet metal screws, special screws have been designed with a 30 degree flank angle to provide low drive in torque, maximising the difference between the high tightening torque required in industrial applications.

This prevents the substrate material stripping during installation and on subsequent installations.

The thin core diameter compared to the major diameter of the screw, coupled with the wide pitch enables maximum packing of the substrate between the threads to achieve maximum resistance to tensile loads whilst maintaining the capability to achieve high clamp loads followed by multiple repeatability of installation.
